Etsy Digital Product Profit Calculator
Digital downloads have no shipping and no packaging — just your price, what it cost you to create, and Etsy's fees. This calculator only asks for what actually applies.
Estimated based on the assumptions you entered. Your actual fees may vary based on your Etsy account, country, payment setup, advertising participation, and transaction details.
How this calculation works
Same profit calculation as the flagship Profit Calculator, with shipping and packaging fixed at $0 rather than asked for — digital delivery has neither. Etsy still charges its usual listing, transaction, and payment processing fees on digital sales, and Offsite Ads can still apply, so those are calculated exactly as they are everywhere else on Sellarithm.
Fee assumptions
- $0.20 listing fee, charged per unit sold
- 6.5% transaction fee on your item price (no shipping charged on digital items)
- 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee (US Etsy Payments account)
- Optional: 15% Offsite Ads fee (12% for shops with $10,000+ in trailing-12-month sales), capped at $100 per order, only if you mark a sale as ad-attributed
This profile assumes a US-based Etsy Payments account and does not include Etsy Ads budget, Etsy Plus subscription, currency conversion, sales tax, or refunds. Shipping and packaging are fixed at $0 for this calculator — digital delivery has neither.
Example calculation
Digital download priced at $12.00, with a $0.50 creation cost (a licensed font used in the design).
| Revenue (item price) | $12.00 |
| Total estimated fees | –$1.59 |
| Product / creation cost | –$0.50 |
| Estimated net profit | $9.91 |
| Profit margin | ~82.6% |
Tips for interpreting your result
- Digital products often carry very high margins because there's no per-unit material or shipping cost — that's the trade-off against typically lower prices and higher sales volume needed.
- If you license fonts, stock graphics, or pay for design software, amortize a per-sale share of that into "Product / creation cost" or "Other costs" rather than leaving them at $0.
- The "time spent" field doesn't subtract anything from your profit — it only shows your effective $/hour once you know your volume, since one design can be resold indefinitely.
