How this calculation works
The discount applies to your item price only — never to shipping charged, exactly as Etsy applies coupon and sale discounts. Etsy's transaction fee is then calculated from the discounted total, not the original price, because that's what the buyer actually paid and what Etsy actually processed. This calculator runs the same profit calculation as the flagship Profit Calculator twice — once at 0% discount, once at your entered discount — and shows both side by side.
Fee assumptions
- $0.20 listing fee, charged per unit sold
- 6.5% transaction fee on your discounted item price + shipping charged
- 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee (US Etsy Payments account)
- Optional: 15% Offsite Ads fee (12% for shops with $10,000+ in trailing-12-month sales), capped at $100 per order, only if you mark a sale as ad-attributed
This profile assumes a US-based Etsy Payments account and does not include Etsy Ads budget, Etsy Plus subscription, currency conversion, sales tax, or refunds.

Tips for interpreting your result
- A discount's profit impact is almost always larger, in percentage terms, than the discount itself — because your costs and Etsy's per-order fees don't shrink when the price does.
- Run a deep discount through here before launching a sale — the "high discount" scenario can flip a normally profitable item into a loss even though the price is still positive.
- Shipping charged to the buyer is never discounted here — only the item price is, matching how Etsy applies sales and coupons.
