Etsy Sales Goal Calculator
How many Etsy sales do you actually need to hit a profit or revenue goal? Enter your price and costs, and we'll work it out from your real per-sale economics — not a rough guess.
Estimated based on the assumptions you entered and treats every sale as independent and identical. Your actual fees may vary based on your Etsy account, country, payment setup, advertising participation, and transaction details.
How this calculation works
This calculator first works out your profit per sale using the exact same engine as the Profit Calculator — your price, minus Etsy's fees, minus your own costs, for one independent sale. Then it divides your target by that per-sale number and rounds up to the next whole sale, since a partial sale can't happen in real life. If 31 sales fall just short of your goal, the calculator will always show 32 — never a number that leaves you short.
Every sale is treated as its own separate order — its own shipping charge, its own listing fee, its own payment processing fee — not bundled into one bulk order the way a multi-item cart would be.
Fee assumptions
- $0.20 listing fee, charged per unit sold
- 6.5% transaction fee on your item price + shipping charged
- 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee (US Etsy Payments account)
- Optional: 15% Offsite Ads fee (12% for shops with $10,000+ in trailing-12-month sales), capped at $100 per order, only if you mark your sales as ad-attributed
This profile assumes a US-based Etsy Payments account and does not include Etsy Ads budget, Etsy Plus subscription, currency conversion, sales tax, or refunds.
Example calculation
An item sells for $25, with $5 shipping charged and $6 actual shipping cost. Materials cost $5. The seller wants a $500 profit goal.
| Estimated profit per sale | $15.70 |
| 31 sales → estimated total profit | $486.70 (short of $500) |
| 32 sales → estimated total profit | $502.40 (goal reached) |
| Required sales | 32 |
Tips for interpreting your result
- Profit per sale and revenue per sale are very different drivers — a $500 revenue goal and a $500 profit goal on the same item can require very different sales counts. Switch modes to compare.
- If the calculator says your economics can't reach the goal by volume alone, that's a signal to revisit your price or costs first — check the Pricing Calculator to find a price that's actually profitable before setting a sales target.
- "Estimated total profit" always reflects the exact number of sales shown — never fewer, so you always see a number that genuinely clears your goal.
