How this calculation works
Etsy charges four possible fees on a sale: a small flat listing fee, a percentage-based transaction fee, a payment processing fee (percentage plus a flat amount), and — only if a sale is attributed to an Etsy-placed ad — an Offsite Ads fee. This calculator adds them up against your sale price and shipping charged, the same way the Profit Calculator does internally, just without asking for your own costs.
Fee assumptions
- $0.20 listing fee, charged per unit sold
- 6.5% transaction fee on your item price + shipping charged
- 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee (US Etsy Payments account)
- Optional: 15% Offsite Ads fee (12% for shops with $10,000+ in trailing-12-month sales), capped at $100 per order, only if you mark a sale as ad-attributed
This profile assumes a US-based Etsy Payments account and does not include Etsy Ads budget, Etsy Plus subscription, currency conversion, sales tax, or refunds.

Tips for interpreting your result
- The effective fee rate is your total fees divided by revenue — it's usually a bit above 11.5% for a typical US sale without Offsite Ads, since the listing fee's flat $0.20 makes a smaller dent as your price rises.
- Adding shipping charged increases revenue — and therefore the dollar amount of transaction and processing fees, since both are based on the full order total, not just the item price.
